CILIP accredits new undergraduate course in Wales

CILIP is delighted to announce that the BA (Hons) Library and Information Management undergraduate course at Coleg Llandrillo has been awarded CILIP accreditation following the institution’s assessment visit on 5th April 2019, recognising that it provides solid preparation for professional practice and a suitable base for anybody entering the information and archive profession.

Helen Berry, CILIP’s Workforce Development Manager said “We are delighted to welcome a new undergraduate course to the range of accredited programmes available. Our growing global network of learning providers offer quality assurance for students pursuing a career in the information, knowledge and library professions. Coleg Llandrillo first achieved accreditation in 2015 for its foundation degree programme which has now been renewed and the team has worked really hard to get this undergraduate offer available in just four years.”

Independent assessor, Dr Diane Sonnenwald, particularly praised the broadening and increase of the students’ knowledge which they were able to apply immediately in their roles, the frequent, timely and effective interaction with students which was highly valued and how the staff keep the unique programme up to date and relevant.

Dr. Andrew Eynon and the team were thrilled at the outcome. CILIP’s learning provider accreditation programme is designed to help students choose information career programmes that cover the essential skills and knowledge, and have been rigorously assessed by CILIP. Accredited programmes are assessed using the CILIP PKSB which identifies the core knowledge and skills of the very broad information profession.
